If you, a family member or friend has been affected by strangulation our information leaflet provides details on what you need to know.

Although, we don’t provide direct support to victim/survivors our Get Help page provides a list of organisations and services that can help and provide support.

The information leaflet was reviewed in May 2025 by staff and the survivor group at IFAS. The updated version includes reflections from survivors on the lived experience of the impact of strangulation and updated links and clarity in the legislation section. The updated versions (English and other languages) have now been updated on this page. No changes were made to the quick read versions.
