Guidance for Police Management of Strangulation

The Institute for Addressing Strangulation (IFAS) has been working with the Police since the Institute was launched in 2022 after the introduction of new legislation on strangulation, establishing this crime as a standalone offence. From this work, we have developed guidance for police officers to embed within their work to support the response to and management of cases of strangulation.

The consultation into the development of the guidance has now closed. A final version of the guidance will be published in due course.
